A parcel at 12-14 East 37th St that was planned as the site of a super-skinny residential tower with parks in the sky appears to be on the market, raising questions about the project's future.
The 700-foot-tall tower was planned as the first NYC project by the Turkish development firm Nef. Architecture firm Perkins+Will put out renderings last year that showed off the tower’s outdoor amenity space and slender profile. It would have had 65 residential units.
The deal to acquire the site never actually closed. Ackman Ziff’s Jason Meister, David Robinov and David Borden are marketing the site for the owner, according to The Real Deal, which cites insiders who peg its value in the $65M to $75M range. The owner of the site is on record as Morris Bildirici. Zoning allows either condos or a hotel at the site. [TRD]
