Hudson Yards' Next Buildings To Be Designed By Frank Gehry, Santiago Calatrava

Related Cos. and Oxford Property Group have selected architects Santiago Calatrava and Frank Gehry to design residential towers at the Hudson Yards megaproject.

The designers are two of the architects selected for the largely residential second phase of the 28-acre development, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The starchitects will join a collection of big names who have already designed buildings for the project.

Architect Bill Pedersen of Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates designed 30 Hudson Yards, which spans 2.6M SF, while Foster + Partners is responsible for 50 Hudson Yards, where BlackRock is taking 875K SF for its new headquarters.

The 88-story, 285-unit condominium at 15 Hudson Yards — where a penthouse is asking $32M — was designed by a collaboration of Diller Scofidio + Renfro and Rockwell Group.

Built on a deck atop expansive Long Island Railroad rail yards, Hudson Yards runs from 30th Street to 34th Street and from 10th Avenue west to the Hudson River. In total, it will include 18M SF of commercial and residential space, in excess of 100 shops, 4,000 residences, a 750-seat public school and a 200-room Equinox hotel.

CORRECTION, FEB. 20 11 A.M. ET: Hudson Yards is being constructed on a platform over the Long Island Railroad's rail yards, not Amtrak's, as a previous version of this story indicated. This story has been updated.
