Fortis Property Group may be looking at rezoning a development site in the Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn to allow for denser residential development.

The company acquired the Long Island College Hospital site last year for $240M, and demo work has already begun on some of the buildings. Current plans call for less dense buildings at the site, but Fortis may be in the process of beginning the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure to alter the plans, Curbed reports.

Residents were not pleased with the initial plans and are not necessarily thrilled with potential ULURP plans, due to a large influx of residents to the area and new buildings that may be out of character with the surrounding Cobble Hill neighborhood. While a rezoning would result in more units, Fortis has committed to providing affordable housing, parking and a public school in return, with both sets of plans also including a NYU Langone Medical Center.

Elsewhere in the city, Fortis continues to have its hands full with several projects in the works, including the 60-story One Seaport, a residential tower at the South Street Seaport, and a new 33-story Marriott hotel in the Financial District. [Curbed]
