Roosevelt Island’s becoming a bustling hub all its own; the island’s first hotel and conference center, as part of Cornell’s Tech campus, is just further proof.

The plan, including new renderings, was presented last week, and needs approval from the Public Design Commission and the City Council, DNAInfo reports.

The two buildings are connected by a shared hall and will serve as the campus’ “front door,” connecting the entrance to the Queensboro Bridge.

Both are part of the campus’ first phase, which also includes a student and staff residential building, a research and small business incubator, and the Bloomberg Center academic building.

The 195-room hotel will be made of metal panels and glass and will have a public plaza, a restaurant, a rooftop lounge and a café. It’s mainly expected to serve those attending academic conferences and international students and professors, but it’ll also serve the public.

The Executive Education Center will have a 300-person hall, four 50- to 75-seat classrooms, small breakout conference rooms, a 150-person buffet lounge, and a wood and aluminum-plank exterior. [DNA]
