Cozen O’Connor lobbyist Reggie Thomas is becoming the Real Estate Board of New York’s new City Council lobbyist.

REBNY Senior Vice President of Government Affairs John Doyle is retiring from full-time duties May 1 after 31 years of service, according to a board announcement Wednesday. Starting April 16, Thomas will work alongside Doyle until Doyle moves into a consulting role.

“We are delighted to welcome Reggie Thomas to the REBNY team; he brings a tremendous level of experience dealing with government and public policy,” REBNY President John Banks said in a statement. “Reggie will be an asset to REBNY and our members as we continue to work on issues such as creating more affordable rental housing, jobs and economic growth that is critical to New York City’s future.”

Most recently, Thomas was a government affairs principal at Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies. From 2011 through 2015, he worked as first deputy director and senior policy adviser in the Office of City Legislative Affairs for mayors Bill de Blasio and Michael Bloomberg.

Before that, he was the director of legislative and budget affairs for then-New York City Council Land Use Committee Chairman Leroy Comrie.

REBNY also announced that Carl Hum will take on a new role of general counsel, along with his role as senior vice president for management services and government affairs.
