YESTERDAY’S SCHMOOZERS

Yesterday, we highlighted the illustrious speakers at Bisnow’sBreakfast and Schmooze, but we can’t ignore the 200 who wouldn’t let the rain, well, rain on their networking parade. Aon/Schirmer Engineering’s David Wilmont (right) even came all the way up from Baltimore to get a pulse on public-private partnership opportunities in the down market. He tells us that DC is holding strong thanks to government leasing and development activity. He’s joined by Eisner and Lubin CPAs’ Ira Cohen, Arent Fox’s Karen Candreva, and Israel Berger & Associates’ Tom Jakab.
Among the attendees: Grant Thornton’s Khris Callejas, EJ Electric Installation’s Margaret Lively, Legrand’s Maureen Warnicke, Cornacchia Architects & Planners’ Janelle Forgette, WSP Flack+ Kurtz’s Shelly Steiner, and Peckar & Abramson’s Bob Peckar. PPPs are the wave of the future, says construction attorney Bob, as the government doesn’t have the money for needed infrastructure. It’s been the way of developing nations, and now it’s our turn to follow suit. (We think mimicking developing countries should be Plan A: at least then the US government will loan us some money.
Duane Morris’ Frederick Cohen, Sun & Moon Marketing’s Madelyne Kirch, Goodman-Gable-Gould/Adjusters International’s Philip Davidson, and Horizon Land Services’ Shawn Cournoyer and Sherri Zaret. Philip tells us that insurance claim companies nowadays are being very cautious before paying claims, as money is tight for them and they’re holding on to it as long as possible. It’s important that every property owner is properly represented for claims, he notes.
