Port Authority Approves Its Largest Capital Plan Ever

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey approved a $32.2B 10-year capital plan on Thursday.

It is the biggest capital plan in the bi-state agency’s 96-year history. The plan will cover some massive infrastructure projects, including a contentious plan to rebuild the Port Authority Bus Terminal, $11.6B for improvements at all three major Tri-State area airports, $10B for improvements to area bridges and tunnels, and $2.7B for a new rail tunnel under the Hudson River.

The approval comes after a monthlong public review process. Earlier this week, a bitter feud between New Jersey and New York politicians over the status of the bus terminal project burst into the open.
