PETER JANIS (1959-2011)

Our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Professional Women in Construction director of programs andmajordomo Peter Janis, who died at the age of 51 on March 17. His unique style, professional coordination of events, and interaction with members greatly assisted the non-profit's growth over the past 25 years, says his mother and PWC president Lenore Janis, who survives Peter along with his brother John, sister-in-law Lisa, and their children Rachel and Matthew. Peter was also a theater designer and an alumnus of Rumsey Hall, Bennington College, and the Fashion Institute of Technology. There will be a memorial service for Peter tomorrow at Gramercy Park Memorial Chapel, 353 Second Ave, at 11am. Donations in his name can be made to thePWC Scholarship Fund.
