After an extensive renovation at 1330 Avenue of the Americas, owner Otera Capital and asset manager CWCapital needed a finishing touch for the new bright marble and terrazzo lobby. Leasing agent Jones Lang LaSalle tapped NYC art consulting firm Novo Arts, under the direction of Marlaina Deppe, to collaborate with architect Gensler and present creative options to enhance the space. JLL managing director Cynthia Wasserberger tells us that this exploration led to the customized creation of a colorful abstract landscape by Gianni Monteleone.
If you’re not familiar with Gianni, he’s an American artist born in NYC, where he still lives and works. He first studied painting at age 16 under the instruction of his grandfather Franco Monteleone, a successful illustrator and wood grainer. He holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, where he’s taught drawing and painting and received ongoing training with the Art Students League of New York. 1330 Avenue of the Americas, which just installed the painting, joins a list of private American collections owning his work, including the New York Times and NBC.
