Brooklyn Brokerage Leadership Shakeup Leaves Firm With Eyes On Manhattan

SoHo-based and Brooklyn-focused brokerage firm Epic Commercial Realty is changing gears after a recent ownership change.

Ido Tzaidi, who was promoted to partner, principal and head of Epic's Manhattan division in February, acquired Epic with broker Sasi Elya from then-CEO Yona Edelkopf in June with the goal of focusing more heavily on Manhattan, The Real Deal reports.

Edelkopf, who focused on mid-market sales in Brooklyn during his tenure at Epic, is no longer affiliated with Epic and has since launched his own brokerage, EMH Commercial Realty. Tzaidi and Elya are now president and CEO at Epic, respectively. Tzaidi told TRD that he plans a major expansion to grow the brokerage to a citywide concern with more than 100 employees.

Since the ownership change, Epic has gone from 34 employees in June to 24 as of Aug. 10, and saw a 43% decrease in sales from 2015 to 2016, in line with a slower market citywide. Tzaidi and Edelkopf characterized the split as amicable.
