Blackstone Global Head Of Real Estate To Depart Firm

Blackstone Global Head of Real Estate Nadeem Meghji is reportedly set to leave the company after nearly two decades.

Meghji is departing after joining the company in the throes of the Great Recession in 2008 and just under a year after becoming Blackstone's sole real estate head, The Wall Street Journal first reported. He previously co-headed global real estate alongside Kathleen McCarthy, who left Blackstone last November.

Meghji is leaving his role for personal reasons and to spend more time with his family, people familiar with the situation told the WSJ.

In the wake of Meghji's departure, Blackstone is elevating two real estate executives from within its ranks to co-lead the business: David Levine, co-head of Blackstone's real estate group in the Americas, and Giovanni Cutaia, president of the real estate business.

“Despite this departure, we have a business with an enormous amount of continuity and tremendous talent,” Blackstone President Jonathan Gray told the WSJ. “And David and Gio are prime examples of that.”

Roughly a dozen senior managing directors have left Blackstone's real estate group in the past few years, according to the outlet.

During his stint helming Blackstone's global real estate operations, Meghji helped lead the firm's major investment in the data center sector.

“The scale of the data center opportunity is immense,” Meghji told Bisnow in a 2024 interview. “It's the single most exciting strategy we have globally today.”

By early 2026, Blackstone had $140B in data centers globally, with a similar amount of development potential, Meghji said at a real estate conference. He also said Blackstone believes it's still in the early stages of the data center build-out and is excited about the opportunity ahead.

Blackstone's global real estate portfolio is valued at $608B, and it employs just under 800 real estate professionals worldwide.
