Uber’s taking 20k SF of office space in NYC's popular Long Island City neighborhood. But get this: the new digs will be in the same building that the Taxi and Limousine Commission's about to move into. The building, at 31-00 47th Ave, is also home to Uber’s main competitor, Lyft, which signed on for a 5k SF footprint last year.
Uber’s lease is good for 10 years, and represents one more sign about the area's office market coming into its own as a tech center. The rideshare app recently announced that its number of registered drivers in NYC has hit 20,000—double what it was a year ago.
