Silicon Valley is still one of the country's leading tech hubs, but tech companies and startups alike are increasingly looking to smaller cities that boast lower costs of living, more space and a slower pace of life.

Tech jobs are spreading across America, with companies moving to markets supporting fledgling startup scenes like Eugene, OR, Manchester, NH, and Huntsville, AL, the Wall Street Journal reports. Many of these cities have populations hovering around 200,000, a far cry from the Silicon Valley’s 3 million people.

The home prices in these smaller tech hubs are also a fraction of those in Silicon Valley, with the median sales price in the San Jose area reaching $841k in the first nine months of this year while the median sales price in Eugene, OR, sits at $239k, according to Realtor.com. [WSJ]
