Spanish fashion retailer Mango plans to open 30 stores in the U.S. within the next three years, bringing its total to 40 by the end of 2024.

Mango laid out a three-phase plan for expansion into the U.S in an announcement this week. The first stage includes this week's opening of its flagship store, located at 711 Fifth Ave. in New York City.

The store spans three floors with approximately 23K SF. This flagship store, which will feature apparel for women, men and children, is one of five Mango locations in Manhattan and surrounding areas.

“The opening of this new flagship store is a major step forward in our strategic goals for international expansion and our distribution ecosystem, but above all it is the first step to consolidate our brand presence in the United States, one of the most important markets in the world,” Mango CEO Toni Ruiz said in a press release.

The second stage of expansion focuses on Florida, with plans to branch out to cities like Miami, Boca Raton, Orlando and Tampa with four or five more stores in the next two years.

Mango is hoping to not only open standalone locations but, specifically in Miami, executives are looking at locations in shopping centers like Aventura Mall and Miami International Mall along with Lincoln Road, which is one of the busiest shopping locations in the city, according to the press release.

In the third phase, expansion is proposed to hit cities including Atlanta, Denver, Dallas, Houston and Los Angeles. The three-year goal is to make the U.S. one of Mango’s top five sales markets.

Mango was founded in Barcelona and currently has brick-and-mortar locations in 110 countries, according to its company profile. The company opened 221 stores last year, bringing its worldwide total to 2,447, Fashion United reported.
