Ross Stores Buck Trend With Plans To Open 90 Stores This Year

While other retailers are struggling to remain above water by slashing their portfolios, Ross Stores Inc. announced plans to open 90 new locations this year.

The company plans to open 70 Ross shops and 20 Dd’s Discount stores throughout 2017, Chain Store Age reports. So far this year, the retailer has already opened 23 Ross locations and five Dd’s in 15 states.

Ross Stores president and chief development officer Jim Fassio said 25% of those stores opened in the Midwest, along with the firm’s first location in Iowa. Ross Stores operates 1,561 locations around the U.S., and Fassio said the firm hopes to grow to 2,000 locations.
