Members-only clubs have been steadily gaining popularity as people search for community in the postpandemic world, but one of the buzziest brands in the space is shutting down all of its locations Friday.

NeueHouse, a members-only coworking club for creatives in the entertainment industry, told its members on Wednesday that they had until 5 p.m. ET Friday to collect their belongings, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

“Although NeueHouse has created an extremely valuable business that is prized by members and event hosts, unfortunately, it has been burdened by legacy liabilities,” reads a statement from the company’s board posted to its website.  “We have made the very difficult decision to wind down the business and close NeueHouse.”

The company has indicated that it plans to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, resulting in a liquidation, although no filings appear in federal court records as of Friday morning.

The coworking club has three locations: a 115K SF building at 110 E. 25th St. in Manhattan, where NeueHouse occupies 70% of the building. Also closing are its 23K SF Venice Beach location at 73 Market St. and its space inside the original CBS headquarters at 6121 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, reportedly spanning 35K SF.

A spokesperson for Williams Equities, which owns and manages 110 E. 25th St., said in a statement to Bisnow that it plans to minimize disruption for Neuehouse customers, which occupy a “thoughtfully designed, high-end co-working and event venue” in the building.

“We are committed to working with the Trustee to maintain continuous operations (with a seamless transition),” the spokesperson said. “We remain focused on protecting the long-term vision and integrity of this community.”

Since its launch more than a decade ago, NeueHouse had become a destination for both meetings and parties from Hollywood heavyweights like Disney, Paramount and Creative Artists Agency in its event spaces, Variety reported. It's unclear what led to its abrupt closure.

A collection of new members-only clubs have launched in recent years, including Casa Cipriani clubs and Aman New York. The trend appears to be holding three years later, as younger workers look for collaborative spaces.

Verci, a coworking firm targeting Gen Z workers backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital, signed a lease for a new location in Flatiron two years after it signed its first lease in SoHo just two years ago.
