Airbnb Moves One Step Closer To Acceptance

Airbnb just joined the World Tourism Organization, marking the homesharing behemoth’s latest effort to gain increased acceptance.

The UNWTO is an agency of the United Nations that promotes responsibility, sustainability and universal accessibility in tourism.The group has 157 member states and over 480 affiliate members, including US members American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute and TripAdvisor, and now also Airbnb, Skift reports.

The UNWTO’s seal of approval helps legitimatize Airbnb’s claims of being a true community marketplace and may even help the firm fend off restrictive regulations in cities worldwide. [Skift]
