Loudoun County has become a top location for data centers, and they're not done. Thanks to a new zoning ordinance passed by the Board of Supervisors, data centers are now permitted in the following zoning districts: commercial light industry, office and industrial parks, research/ development, and general industry (we think that covers all the bases). The amendment also increases building-height allowance and the floor-to-area ratio in the PD-IP zoning district. With a streamlined development process in place effective immediately, this world-class technology location has paved the way for more data center development. Loudoun economic development director Buddy Rizer says that the changes will reduce building time and cost.
