The Shanghai Tower was designed by Gensler and is owned by the City of Shanghai. The mixed-use tower rotates at 120 degrees and was designed for high-energy efficiency.

Russia's Lakhta Tower rotates 90 degrees as it proceeds toward the sky and was designed by famed British architect Tony Kettle, best known for designing the Falkirk Wheel in Scotland.

Construction began on Supernova Spira in 2012, and the mixed-use skyscraper is set to be open by the middle of next year. The tower is just shy of 1,000 feet and has a 146-degree twist.
