Silverstein Properties is mulling two different designs for a 2 World Trade Center tower, and appears close to deciding in favor of a staggered, terraced concept by the Bjarke Ingels Group.
That design was originally created to cater to 20th Century Fox and News Corp, back when they seemed like prospective anchor tenants, the New York Post reports. Another, earlier design was submitted by Norman Foster with lighted diamonds on its tilted peak.
After 20th Century Fox and News Corp pulled out, Larry Silverstein, who told Bisnow last year the prospective lease was “the most exciting activity” at the WTC, saw his options open up again.
Nonetheless, the developer seems to be leaning towards BIG’s design.
While Larry tells the Post a final decision hasn’t been made yet, he also says that, most likely, “knowing the users we are talking to today, it will come down to the Bjarke Ingels.”
BlackRock, JPMorgan Chase and others are reportedly eyeing space at the unfinished tower. [NYP]
