Blackstone Names Real Estate Vet Asia-Pacific Chair

Blackstone has named real estate veteran Christopher Heady chairman of the titan’s Asia-Pacific businesses.

Over his 16 years with Blackstone the banker has played a critical role expanding the group’s real estate business into the region, and Heady will now spearhead the firm’s Asia real estate division, Bloomberg reports.

The appointment comes on the heels of Blackstone’s recruitment of Zhang Liping from Credit Suisse Group AG as chairman for Greater China last July and signals serious interest in bolstering the firm's leadership in the region.

Heady has led around $3B of investments made by Blackstone in China, India, Japan and Australia, according to the company’s website. [Bloomberg]
