CBRE has named Rachel Vinson global chief operating officer for capital markets effective immediately, the company announced on Friday.

Vinson is replacing Kevin Aussef, who has been promoted to the same title for CBRE's American Advisory Services, according to the press release. As part of CBRE's organizational structure, capital markets is under the umbrella of advisory services, so Aussef will continue to have operational oversight of capital markets, a CBRE spokesperson told Bisnow in an email. Vinson will report to CBRE Global President for Capital Markets Chris Ludeman.

Vinson is based out of Dallas, where CBRE moved its headquarters from Los Angeles late last year. She had been leading the company's Americas Advisory Finance group for the past two years and will continue to be involved there until a permanent replacement is found, the announcement said.

From late 2011 to the middle of 2014, Vinson rose from analyst to associate director with CBRE in Dallas before moving to Barings. By the time she moved back to CBRE in 2019, she had spent nearly six years at Barings and risen to the role of president at Barings Multifamily Capital.

CBRE has been making public strides in elevating women in the industry in recent weeks. In late August, it named Rija Beares to lead its practice in the Greater Philadelphia region, and earlier this year it was named a corporate sponsor for industry group Women In Real Estate as that group expanded from a series of chat rooms on the app Clubhouse to a dues-paying organization that puts on in-person events.

A representative from CBRE said 32.2% of its global managers are female but didn't give specifics for C-suite executives.

UPDATE, SEPT. 17, 2:50 P.M. ET: CBRE on Friday afternoon told Bisnow that 32.2% of its global managers are female but didn't supply any data regarding the makeup of its executive teams.
