The New York City Economic Development Corp. and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development announced plans to transform an old Harlem bus depot into an affordable housing complex.
The 730-unit complex will alleviate the city’s affordable housing crisis, and the current plan contains 150 units for households of three earning $24,500 or less, and 220 units for households earning 80% or less than the neighborhood’s median income, Construction Dive reports. The announcement fits in line with NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio’s February pledge to allocate $1.9B to build 10,000 affordable housing units.
The project is undergoing a land-use review. If that is approved, the city will seek proposals.
