The BTR Tenant You Might Have Forgotten To Cater For: Dogs

Walkies?

When the build-to-rent revolution first rolled into Manchester, the city's developers and property managers expected to see a few deals that turned out to be dogs. A tiny percent of occupiers were expected to acquire an equally small dog, and that would be the end of it. No big deal.

How wrong they were.

Today property managers urbanbubble said up to 25% of BTR residents have a pet, and that dog-themed amenities like dog washing bays, and arrangements with regular dog walkers, have become the surprise discovery of the first wave of BTR apartments.

So great has been the demand for pet-based city living that some landlords now insist on limiting the size of companion canines, with residents only permitted dogs under 5kg. Meanwhile, selecting apartments based on their dog-friendliness has become a familiar part of the city's BTR scene.

Now the city's dog-based real estate scene has taken a step further with the creation of a doggy day care centre for city dwellers.

Dogs Aloud has been carved out of a 5.5K SF former children's play centre on the city's Astra Business Park, North West Business Insider reported.

Operating from 7am to 7pm, the facility offers swimming pools, chill out areas and tons of canine stimulation including a bubble machine. Up to 70 dog guests can kick back and watch big screen films or simply lounge the day away on heated bedding.

The exclusive scheme admits dogs only after an initial assessment.
