Urban Commons plans to transform the waterfront around the Queen Mary in Long Beach into a huge entertainment complex.
The 65-acre area will be called Queen Mary Island.
According to a new rendering, there will be a 150K SF rec center at the center of the complex, Curbed Los Angeles reports.

Urban Adventures will be the name of the new facility.
Benoy is the architectural firm for the project, which will offer more than 20 interactive sporting attractions, including ice climbing, a “Ninja Warrior training ground” and a “zip line roller coaster.”
Urban Commons took over Queen Mary’s lease last year and will reno the ship and all of its 346 guest rooms.
The City of Long Beach will contribute $23M as part of its lease agreement with Urban Commons. It is not known where the remaining money will come from as the project is still being planned.
The development must also get approval from the city and the California Coastal Commission. Construction could begin within two years.
