Trammell Crow, the Cesar Chavez Foundation and La Plaza de Cultura y Artes teamed up last week to break ground on LA Plaza Cultura Village, a $140M mixed-use development in downtown LA.
LA Plaza Cultura Village will be built on two parking lots owned by LA County at the intersection of Broadway and Cesar E. Chavez Avenue.
There will be five- and eight-story buildings as part of the project with 355 units, according to Urbanize LA.
Live/work lofts, studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom units will be built. Around 20% are slated for affordable housing. A fitness center, a swimming pool and a dog park will be among the amenities.
There also will be 43k SF of retail and restaurant space.
La Plaza Village will be built on a historic paseo on Hill Street, linking Union Station to the Fort Moore Memorial, according to Johnson Fain and SWA Group, the architectural firms designing the project.
A large California sycamore will serve as the centerpiece of the plaza.
