The upper floors of 612 S. Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles will house a new infinitSpace location.

Amsterdam-based coworking company infinitSpace is set to open its first American location, and it's chosen 32K SF in Downtown Los Angeles for this first foray into the U.S. market.

The company has 15 locations in operation globally, including four in London, three in Amsterdam and two in Berlin.

"Los Angeles is the right place to begin," infinitSpace CEO Wybo Wijnbergen said in a statement.

But Los Angeles was not on the shortlist of potential locations a year ago, when infinitSpace tapped veteran coworking executive Andrea Pirrotti-Dranchak as its head of real estate for the Americas and announced it was locking down space in New York, San Francisco, Austin and Toronto. That list was more or less shaped by member requests, Wijnbergen said.

About eight months ago, existing members voiced a desire for a Los Angeles office in addition to the cities where infinitSpace was already planning expansions.

The company is targeting 30 new U.S. locations over the next 24 months, with the first locations in LA, San Francisco, Austin, Seattle and New York.

The future Downtown infinitSpace, the former Desmond's department store building at 612 S. Broadway, previously housed another coworking company and, as such, is already built out in a way that gives infinitSpace the ability to move into a space that doesn't need a major overhaul, Wijnbergen told Bisnow.

The location opens on Nov. 2 and will accommodate up to approximately 400 memberships and offer private offices, shared workspaces, meeting rooms, lounges and a rooftop event space, according to infinitSpace.

InfinitSpace uses management agreements with landlords, not traditional leases. The agreement for the Los Angeles space is 15 years, Wijnbergen said, adding that this term emphasizes that the company is in LA for the long haul.

The coworking landscape in Los Angeles is a busy one. With 349 locations, LA has the most coworking spaces in the country, according to CoworkingCafe.

The city has approximately 7.5M SF of coworking office space, putting LA behind only New York and Chicago in terms of having the most square footage available for use through shared workspace companies. Coworking space represents 2.5% of LA's total office inventory, according to CoworkingCafe. Nationally, coworking space by number of locations is on the rise, growing 2.7% in the second quarter of this year after a 3.2% increase in the first quarter of 2026.

Los Angeles' office market is not experiencing the vibrant rebound that New York and San Francisco are. And while there are pockets where office owners are feeling confident, such as Century City, Downtown is not usually included on that list. The area is often among the neighborhoods with the highest office vacancy and reached more than 35% vacancy in Q2 2026, well above the city average of just over 25%, according to a Q2 2026 report from CBRE.

Wijnbergen said all traditional office markets are having challenges. He sees those challenges as an opportunity for more flexible options to make inroads.

"I think it's really difficult for any company, whether you're a small medium business or an enterprise, to make a decision for space for five or 10 years," said Wijnbergen, a former managing director at WeWork.

"If we really start listening to the market, every single company is looking for shorter-term space that's ready for usage," he added.

InfinitSpace is not the only European flexible office platform headed for the U.S. In August, UK-based Hubble, a flexible office firm owned by Yardi, announced that it had soft-launched its first new stateside location in New York, with plans to open in seven more markets across the country.
