Realty Mogul Scores $35M in New Funding

We chatted with Realty Mogul CEO Jilliene Helman this morning, who tells us the crowdfunding platform's Series B financing round (led by Sorenson Capital with additional funding from Canaan Partners, the lead investor in the company’s Series A financing) will be focused on hiring. She says the firm has about 80 employees, and she's expecting to hit 120 by the end of the year (the company had 10 a year ago). In addition, Jilliene tells us the funding will allow the company to expand into other markets, with an immediate focus on Atlanta and Texas. Just last week, Realty Mogul made quite the splash, bringing in two big originators from private equity firm Colony Capital.
