DTZ Investors got the go-ahead to proceed with its Assael-designed mixed-use scheme near Battersea Power Station. The new project will provide 307 residential units as well as an office space intended to incubate new technical and creative companies.

The site is one of the last underused sites in the Vauxhall, Nine Elms, Battersea Opportunity Area. It occupies 41-49 and 49-59 Battersea Park Road, described by the architect as “a key convergence point” at the new Linear Park, Prospect Park and the entrance to the proposed Battersea Northern Line underground station.

The standing Booker Wholesale Warehouse and BMW Garage will be demolished to make way for a collection of buildings ranging from five to 18 storeys. The ground-floor accommodation will be dedicated to affordable business space and food/beverage uses to animate the surrounding streets and the development’s new public space. The 31k SF of incubator-style office space targets SMEs, including creative startups, and has been designed to complement the commercial offering for surrounding developments, assisting local businesses to staircase up to the nearby Battersea Power Station.
