Ah, summer. We don’t have a lot of it here in London but what we do have, we maximize. With long hours of daylight, we find any reason to get outside—and rooftops are increasingly the most accessible outdoor space many city-dwellers experience. We took a gander at five of the most exciting rooftops in the city.

Queen of Hoxton, Shoreditch

This rooftop bar is a perfect snapshot of Shoreditch in general: chill, urban, and up for anything. In addition to an urban playground for in-the-know Millennials, Queen of Hoxton also hosts Rooftop Film Club. Now showing: Spice World. (Not even joking.)

Dalton Roof Park, Hackney

You won’t have the swoon-worthy views here that you have at other rooftop locales, but the casual vibe is not available anywhere else. Dance on the astroturf, lounge in tacky beanbags, eat from the pop-up vendors. It’s like a community park, just in rooftop form.

Radio Rooftop Bar, The Strand

Over-the-top coolness positively gleams from this sexy all-white rooftop bar on the 10th floor of the ME London Hotel on The Strand. Enjoy tapas and cocktails and some of the best views in London: you’ll see Tower Bridge, the Shard, Somerset House and the Houses of Parliament spread out before you like beautiful, glittering jewels.

The Berkeley, Knightsbridge

Boasting one of the few rooftop pools in London, Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge charges nonmembers a cool £150 for the day, which gives access to the pool with a retractable roof, the secret garden, and the spa and gym. Worth it.

Coq, d’ Argent

This rooftop garden is a true sanctuary high above the city. With a peaceful green lawn, high-quality drinks, and stunning panoramic views of London. Relax and enjoy your little summery slice of heaven.
