With Tenants Vacated and TABC Permit Filed, Midtown Common Is Close To Fall Delivery

America Gardens, the first phase of Midtown Common Entertainment District, will open this fall. This week the tenant officially vacated, allowing redevelopment work to begin, and a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission permit application notice was posted on the site.

Syn Group, a hospitality group based in Dallas, is planning to convert the 2400 block of Caroline Street in Midtown into an entertainment district with four restaurants. In addition to America Gardens, The Social House, Don Chingon and Wishful Drinking will open on the site projected to be fully completed in 2018.

Renderings of the venue are reminiscent of the popular venues Axelrad, West Alabama Ice House and Kirby Ice House. In a Facebook post, Syn Hospitality claimed Midtown Common will have Midtown's largest patio, sure to create a sense of community.

The development is also an important step for Midtown as a whole. While development has been booming in the area, the bulk has been confined to the west side of the light rail tracks along Main. Developing a full block east of the tracks with a project focused on fostering community is a step toward activating the rest of what Midtown has to offer.
