Anna's Linens is no more. A JV of Hilco Merchant Resources and Gordon Brothers Group started the going out of business process on Friday after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on the 14th. Anna's Linens hoped it could sell the chain to DW Partners by Friday's deadline, according to the Wall Street Journal. The deal did not close, so Hilco and Gordon Brothers paid up to $67M to handle liquidation. We snapped a Houston-area location this weekend; it and all 252 stores in the US and Puerto Rico will close by mid-July. Anna's Linens previously went bankrupt in 1993. [WSJ]
