HOLBA's Big Night of Awards

Congratulations to Colvill Office Properties EVP Michael Anderson, who was named HOLBA’s landlord broker of the year last night. We snapped Michael (right) with his brother, Fritsche Anderson co-managing partner David Anderson and wife Leia (their 1-year-old son had to stay home). Michael markets a 7.5M SF office portfolio and leads his firm’s office team. Michael followed his brother into the real estate industry 13 years ago, and he thanked Transwestern’s David Baker for hiring him right out of college when he didn’t know the difference between office and retail brokerage. This is HOLBA’s 16th annual landlord rep of the year award; the honoree is chosen by the org’s 10-member board of directors based on professionalism and impact on the business community.

Colvill also took the podium to receive HOLBA’s first-ever lease of the year award for its 227k SF lease with BMC Software in CityWestPlace. We snapped the team behind the $94M deal—Win Haggard Jr, Michael, Chip Colvill and Clark Thompson. BMC consolidated its existing space in three buildings into one HQ, which transformed CityWestPlace from a single-company development into a vibrant multi-tenant campus. It took four years to complete and involved 14 different parties, including two different property owners.

HOLBA also awarded its first landlord rep rising star with less than five years in the industry, recognizing Stream senior associate Craig McKenna. Craig joined Stream in 2012 from Frost National Bank, where he sourced, structured and underwrote real estate acquisition and development financing. He stepped right up, sourcing the acquisition of Thirty One Twenty for Stream within months on the job. In return, the firm gave him an ownership stake in the building. Now he’s handling leasing for 600 Jefferson, which Stream bought in January.
