Weingarten Realty is evaluating opportunities to add some mixed-use components to its River Oaks Shopping Center. The company is considering adding a residential component, more retail and structured parking to the art deco complex on West Gray. Enhancing public spaces and improving walkability are also on the table.
Currently, River Oaks Shopping Center features 75 upscale stores and restaurants, including art shops, bookstores, an independent theater and a Kroger’s Signature grocery store, spread over 320k SF of prime Upper Kirby/River Oaks real estate.
If the project moves forward, the estimated stabilization is around 2019/2020, but there is no official timeline and plans are in flux.
