AIA Sandcastle Winners!

Congrats to Kirksey and Metzger Construction, which took the Golden Bucket Award (best in show) at AIA's annual sandcastle competition this weekend. The event is major—one of the top five revenue generating events for the City of Galveston, and an all-out design war between 60 AEC teams. (The winners get beach-themed awards, everyone gets sunburned.) Above is Kirksey/Metzger's Jurassic Seuss entry, which featured dinos taking on Dr. Seuss characters. The team was also named Most Hilarious.

Gensler won the Silver Shovel (second place) and Best Traditional entry for the second year in the row. Here's its entry, Drift Outside the Shell. The team got into the spirit with some cute temporary tattoos of turtles with a Gensler G on their shells.
