Utah-based Powdr Corp. plans to sell the Eldora Mountain ski resort in Nederland, Colorado, along with several other properties.

The sale of Eldora would be the latest in a string of ski resort sales impacting properties in Colorado.

An Eldora spokesperson told KDRV-TV on Thursday that they do not expect any changes to “products, roles and operations” at the ski resort for the upcoming winter ski season, including the IKON ski pass, “and we will continue to conduct business as usual as we work to open the resort for skiing and riding on November 15, 2024.”

Also Thursday, Vermont’s Killington Resort announced that it, along with the nearby Pico Mountain resort, was being sold from Powdr “to a passionate group of local passholders.”

And in a statement emailed to Bisnow, Powdr said along with Eldora, it will list Mt. Bachelor in Oregon and SilverStar in British Colombia for sale, with JP Morgan Chase managing the process.

“Until the sales of these four resorts [including Killington] are finalized, we will remain dedicated to our current operations at those ski resorts,” the statement said, noting that Powdr will retain its Copper Mountain resort in Colorado.

Powdr acquired Colorado’s Copper Mountain ski resort in 2009 and Eldora in 2016. Powdr has invested $10M in Eldora, according to the Colorado Sun. The website also reported that Eldora is scheduled to open its new 12K SF Caribou Lodge, which will become home to its ski school as well as the resort's nonprofit arm, in October.

Earlier this year, ski resort giant Alterra Mountain Co. announced its plans to acquire the 1,428-acre Arapahoe Basin resort in Colorado from Dream Unlimited, a Canadian firm. This past June, however, federal antitrust investigators announced they were reviewing that proposed acquisition due to concerns the sale could “negatively impact consumers.”
