HALL Arts Residences, a 28-story luxury residential high-rise in the Dallas Arts District, has registered for WELL Multifamily Certification. It is the first development in Texas to do so.

The design team of HKS and Emily Summers Design Associates aimed to create the healthiest high-rise in Texas.

“A focus on health and wellness has become a key feature of today’s luxury residential developments,” HALL Group Chairman Craig Hall said. “It was important to us to take this a step further at HALL Arts Residences by pursuing WELL Certification and designing the most innovative, health-driven environment for our homeowners.”

Wellness design features at the Residences include multilevel air filtration to reduce pollutants, the elimination of building materials containing volatile organic compounds, thick walls to decrease noise transfer between homes, a sound-reducing membrane installed in floors, healthy food options, on-site fitness facilities and unit designs that maximize natural light.

“The WELL Building Standard is a key differentiator in today’s luxury residential market as it places a new premium on environments that allows for one to breathe better, sleep better and live better,” HKS Principal Architect Eddie Abeyta said.

WELL measures building features that impact human health. The WELL Building Standard was launched in October 2014 and has risen to prominence amid claims a focus on wellness design can make people healthier and more productive, and the buildings more profitable. Though the trends are still somewhat unproven, the wellness industry is blossoming.

HALL Arts Residences is opening in early 2020. Green Business Certification Inc., the third-party certification body for WELL, will then test the property to ensure it meets performance requirements before awarding the certification.
