The Colony’s Grandscape will break ground on a lifestyle shopping center within the 400-acre mixed-use development on Tuesday. Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway company is developing the project anchored by the largest furniture store in the U.S., Nebraska Furniture Mart.
VCC Construction will construct the project. "It’s exciting to be involved in such a creative project," VCC Construction managing director Derek Alley said at Bisnow’s Dallas State of the Market event on Thursday.
"It will change that corridor of State Highway 121 completely."
A 300K SF sports store called Scheels will open in 2020. Open or planned restaurants include Truck Yard, Bread Zeppelin, Hard Eight BBQ and Mi Cocina. In January, Galaxy Theaters inked a deal to open an 85K SF, 16-screen cinema in the $1.5B development. Lava Cantina music venue has booked its first gigs for May.
Grandscape plans to announce more retail tenants on Tuesday.
