Aligned Data Centers expects to break ground this fall on a 425K SF data center in Plano.
An address wasn't disclosed, but Plano City Council greenlighted the company’s plan to build a new data center at North Star Road and East Plano Parkway in March. The project is estimated to cost $212M, according to a permit filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The company declined Bisnow’s request for comment.
Aligned already operates two data centers in the city at its 19-acre campus near East Plano Parkway and Jupiter Road. The company chose to establish a presence in the Metroplex due to its affordable power and position at the midpoint of several long-haul fiber networks, according to its website.
This new facility would be the largest in the company’s North Texas portfolio.
Data center construction in DFW has been fast and furious over the past few years as developers attempt to contend with the quick rise of artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud computing.
Still, long lead times on critical equipment and limited power availability have kept supply largely out of step with demand. Nearly 386 megawatts of data center space was absorbed last year, nearly seven times more than 2020, The Dallas Morning News reported. Less than 4% of space was vacant at the end of 2023.
About 1.4M SF of new space was under construction at the start of this year, but the majority had already been leased.
NTT Data unveiled plans to spend $42M expanding facilities in Garland, while Compass Datacenters said it would also spend millions to bulk up its campus in Red Oak. Denver-based Stack Infrastructure plans to break ground on a six-building hub in Lancaster.
