There’s two new tax cuts taking effect Sept. 1, including increasing the homestead exemption from $15k to $25k and the business franchise tax was cut by 25%, State Rep. Linda Koop (R-Dist 102) told us in a phone interview Tuesday. The state rep says the idea with both tax cuts was to put more money back into the economy. She says the Legislature was able to keep the budget $2B under the state’s constitutional spending cap while retaining $11B in the state’s rainy day fund.
