GTCR Sells Capella For $900M

GTCR has agreed to sell Capella Healthcare to Medical Properties Trust in a $900M deal. A management team including MPT and senior Capella execs will own Capella's existing hospital operations and Capella president and CEO Michael Wiechart will retain his position. Wiechart said in a statement MPT's expertise and access to capital markets is compatible with Capella's mission and values, according to the Chicago Business Journal. Capella was founded in 2005 and partnered with GTCR, the private equity firm of which Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner was a founder and former partner. [CBJ]
