Amazon Plans Distribution Center for South Side

Amazon.com is continuing its push to get closer to more customers in Chicago and plans to open a South Side distribution center. The e-commerce giant has leased a 150k SF warehouse at 2801 S Western Ave in Heart of Chicago, a deal that will likely help expand its ultra-fast delivery capabilities in the city. The company opened a 51k SF North Side distribution center on Goose Island that began operating in July as a Prime Now Hub. The facility offers one-hour delivery, responding to consumer demand for quicker home deliveries. [Crain’s]
