Charlotte is the third-best place to start a business among the nation's largest 150 cities, according to a new report by WalletHub. The city's economic, policy and social conditions support the founding and growth of entrepreneurial enterprises, which has the bonus impact of upping demand for office and industrial space.
Only Oklahoma City and Salt Lake City beat Charlotte, which did particularly well for its business environment. Next on the list were Tulsa, Grand Rapids and another North Carolina growth hub, Durham. (Raleigh was No. 12.)
WalletHub ranked cities as fertile ground for new businesses using 18 key metrics, including five-year business survival rate, office space affordability, startups per capita, human capital availability and financing accessibility.
