Hines Doubles The Boardwalk At Marina Bay

The developer behind an apartment complex at one of Quincy’s biggest mixed-use developments has significantly expanded its waterfront connectivity.

Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch joined representatives with Hines and Callahan Construction Managers earlier this month for a boardwalk celebration at the city’s Marina Bay development. Hines, the developer behind the Meriel Marina Bay apartment complex, doubled the size of the Marina Bay boardwalk as part of its multifamily project.

Meriel is made up of two five-story buildings featuring 352 apartments and 20K SF of ground-level retail space.

“Our city has experienced an ongoing positive evolution across all neighborhoods over the last number of years with the steady addition of new businesses and residents proud to call Quincy home,” Koch said in a statement.

Meriel Marina Bay features car-free connectivity to downtown Boston via a seasonal water ferry and a free shuttle to North Quincy's Red Line station. It appears the development will arrive at just the right time. As prices in Boston’s urban core have continued to rise, renters have looked outside city limits when seeking a new place to live.

Brokerage firm Redfin has released a list of Boston’s 10 hottest neighborhoods in April based on where residents said they were looking to move. The city’s West Quincy neighborhood ranked fourth.
