Spaulding Cape Cod Hospital Prepares For Graying Population With Expansion

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Cape Cod in Sandwich completed a renovation and expansion, which added a two-story, 6k SF addition to the hospital. According to the hospital, it undertook the expansion in anticipation of rapid growth of the elderly population on Cape Cod — the demographic could double near this location.

Margulies Perruzzi Architects oversaw the project with Columbia Construction Co, which added two physician rooms and eight outpatient therapy rooms. The expansion also doubled private treatment space, increased outpatient capacity, and added a multi-purpose room to the first floor for wellness and community programs.

As the Cape’s only rehabilitation hospital, Spaulding Cape Cod provides advanced rehabilitation care to help patients transition to home following illness, injury or surgery.
