| We snapped Don Deng and Ruifeng Tian looking over the model of Park 1872, a 4M-SF mixed use project going up in Beijing. Once complete, its 11 towers will be filled with offices and luxury housing, including condos with hotel-type services now popular with China?s road warriors. They've also just started another residential high rise in Hohot. Don, who regularly does the Boston-Guangzhou commute, has seen a real turnaround in the 20 years since he moved here for school: ?No one uses the term "culture shock" anymore. Now, Chinese kids pay their own way and are used to the western brands.? |
| Overseeing construction of the first phase of the 630k SF Baystate Medical Center ?Hospital of the Future? in Springfield are Linda Haggerty, Bobbe Young, Gregg Cribb, Ron Vestri, and Abby Flam. One of the largest privately-owned Massachusetts health care systems will have a green roof over surgery suites to conserve energy and a patient focused facility. Much of the work required to keep the hospital running—delivery and distribution of supplies—will take place in the back of the house. Health care pros will tend to patients in the front. Ron said this will keep treatment areas peaceful and organized. |
| Doing a little research in the company library for the Mattapan Community Health Center they've designed are Justin Dezendorf,Kristine Dudley, Christopher Payne, and Katherine Bubriski. Funded with about $20M in stimulus money, construction should run from June through December 2011 on the health care facility with community rooms for the largely Haitian Creole neighbors. Katherine, the project manager, said the team hopes the modern, terra cotta clad building will help revitalize the area. |
| Boston Children's Hospital is exporting its brand to Peabody where Teresa Wilson, Richard Lovell Berry, Craig DiCarlo,and Sal Davola designed an outpatient health center now under construction, expected to open early next year. They?ve renovated an existing commercial building, adding a two-story entry and lobby. The dcor of sea blue, celery and orange is meant to be playful but sophisticated, Teresa explained. ?Children's is presenting a unified image? with a few similar facilities opened in the ?burbs. |
