Skanska, Santa. Santa, Skanska

When responsible professionals are happy to have their picture taken with one or more wine glasses in hand, it must be the holidays. On Thursday, we snapped a bunch of very serious pros celebrating at Skanska Building?s fete.
Kling Stubbins? Roy Pedersen held the extra glass for a friend (to those of you miming air quotes around "friend," that's not polite) as he filled us in on his modernization project at the 350k SF Rodino Office Building in Newark, NJ. Construction docs are nearly complete, so it's just getting underway. Skanska's Mary Ann Williams started site work this week for the Kipp Academy Charter School in Lynn. The $26.8M building is set for completion August ?12.
We snapped Skanska's Laura Onessimo, with Peter Barber, GLC Development's George Cole (the ?C? in GLC), and Skanska's Mike Pascavage. Peter, now a recovering retired developer is encouraging clean energy use at places like Newton Wellesley Hospital, where he's vice chairman of the board. George is focused on New Market Tax Credit projects. On Friday, financing closed on the $37M Whittier Street Community Health Center GLC is doing. Mike is planning for the development of a 120k SF lab at 150 2nd St in East Cambridge. Skanska bought the development rights from JLL.
Arrowstreet principal George Tremblay did have his eyes open through the entire party … blame the photographer for this. George and his team are designing an upscale resort village in Sant?Agata li Battiati near Catania, Sicily (between Mt. Etna and the sea) for Boston-based developer JO-FA-S.A.B. Capital Group. Now going through final permitting, construction is set to start next summer on a boutique hotel (about 65 rooms), civic performing arts center (300 seats), a main street with 100k SF of retail, $1M plus villas (17), and parking for 600.
We ran into Add Inc?s Vickie Alani (left) who told us her firm's design for the long-stalled Jackson Square project is back on track with construction scheduled to start in April. The project is being developed by The Community Builders and Mitchell Properties with financing from Boston? Department of Neighborhood Development and others. The project is adjacent to a T stop, part of a larger plan to revitalize the Square. It will have 103 rental apartments (market rate and affordable) and 16.5k SF of retail.
