| We snapped Rebuilding Together Boston's Simone Austere with supporter Steve DiNisco at the non-profit's annual fundraiserThursday. They had a full house at Nick?s Comedy Stop raising approx $11,000 to help fund their work repairing residences around the city on the last Saturday of April. RTB also gave an Outstanding Service Award to Steve for his help year after year that keeps people in their homes and upgrades Boston blocks and neighborhoods. |

Steve, who's been volunteering for RTB since ?91, says he does it for the hugs he gets from homeowners at the end of the day for the repairs and renovations the group does free of charge. Debbie says she keeps coming back to help, amazed at how much people?s lives can change with help for just one day. It makes their homes livable and inspires neighbors to spruce up properties, too. Debbie says one year the group repaired four houses in Field?s Corner. When they returned the next year to do more, they found that neighbors had already fixed up other houses. |
