Regina Pisa, Chairman Emeritus, Goodwin Procter

Regina shocked some colleagues when she decided that the firm would leave State Street where its HQ has been for 102 years for a build-to-suit now under construction at the Innovation District on Boston Harbor. But for Regina, “innovation” fit right into the motif of the firm and her life. In ’98 at age 42, Regina became managing partner and chairman of Goodwin--the first woman to lead an AmLaw 100 firm—and it’s been known for its innovative legal practice for at least a decade. Regina grew the practice to $720M in revenue and 850 attorneys; from $172.5M in revenues and 300 attorneys. Its move to the Seaport put a white shoe imprimatur on the emerging neighborhood. She's intrigued by real estate; it's like playing 3D chess but less in your control and allows you to see the world through the same lens as your estate clients. Her mentor was the late Henry Shepard who spurred her on and gave her confidence. One of her passions is anything Somerville, where she was raised and where her mother still lives.
