| It will be worth waiting 63 years for the New England Conservatory of Music’s first major expansion project—a $130M development—that will seek final city zoning approval on Wednesday. The project designed by Ann Beha Architects with Gensler includes an $85M Student Life and Performance Center: a new 252-bed dorm with common areas; libraries, a Black Box theater, rehearsal hall, and other goodies, the school’s Ellen Pfieffer tells us. Phase II calls for a $45M Learning Center that also will have teaching studios, practice rooms, classrooms and a public jazz club. Hats off to these classical music aficionados for their hipness factor. |
